so yesterday i had a few members of the gang over to watch beckham’s debut in the USA. now, some might say that they expected him not to play but that doesn’t make sense. first off, it would be horrible marketing and set back soccer in america. much like killing harry potter off and killing the next two movies. second, he injured his ankle a long while ago. he’s been playing on it for awhile. this wasn’t a new injury, he was going to play about 10 minutes. finally, he’s beckham, he’s the best.
okay, now onto the game, we had a pool going to see what time beckham will get into the game or not at all. alex horwitch was the winner with his pic from 70-80. becks looked good. he spent most time just skipping around but that’s typical of an ankle injury. the cross was amazing and dead on. most people who watched the game wont get why he didnt score but that’s not what makes beckham great. he has the single greatest cross in the game of soccer. hands down, no arguments. i can see in the future beckham getting a cross into a donovan header. speaking of donovan, what was up with the corner kick? it seems like he is going to have a hard time relinquishing his role as the marquee player to someone else, which may result in a problem in the future.
on the whole, it was a good game, chelsea is a great team and galaxy played them great through the first half. expect them to make a strong run going towards the end of the season. they’ve got the talent but most players on that team havent been there longer than 2 months. they just need to get adjusted to each other.
